	29	100.9% PURE COUNTRY TO HOST LOCAL ROUND OF TEXACO COUNTRY SHOWDOWN 100.9% Pure Country’s local round of the Texaco Country Showdown is Friday, July 29th, 2011 at 7pm, at The Avalon Theatre in historic downtown Easton, MD! Annually, over 450 radio stations across the country sponsor contests, initiating the year-long talent search with more than 500 live shows. Winners of the local contests advance to their state event where the prizes include $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events. The regional winners receive an all expense-paid trip to the National Final to compete for $100,000 and the coveted national title of Best New Act in Country Music. Each year, more than 50,000 artists compete in competitions throughout the U.S. Past local, state, and regional winners include: Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, Miranda Lambert, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Billy Ray Cyrus. 	30	US Navy Cruisers Saturday, July 30 at 7 pm FREE www.navyband.navy.mil/cruisers.shtml As the U.S. Navy's premier contemporary entertainment ensemble, the Cruisers feature eight of the Navy's most dynamic performers. Formed in 1999 as a specialty unit of the United States Navy Band, the Cruisers are under the leadership of drummer, Chief Musician Leon Alexander. The group takes its name from the Navy's versatile, flexible, multi-missioned ship – the Cruiser – and the band lives up to their namesake by having the capabilities of playing genres of music ranging from jazz & standards, rhythm & blues, classic rock, adult contemporary and pop as well as original material. This elite group has engaged and excited audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and abroad with world-class musicianship and high energy, fun-filled performances. Having truly worldwide appeal, they traveled to Oslo in 2004 for the Norwegian Military Tattoo. In addition, they performed in Keflavik, Iceland, in October 1999 for the Naval Air Station's Navy Birthday Ball. Closer to home, they are in constant demand by the most senior government and military officials. 	30	Stoltz Listening Room Show Ari Hest $20 Saturday, July 30 at 8pm Ari Hest has vocal chops that demand attention, and he knows it. With a road paved for him by singer-songwriters such as John Mayer and Jason Mraz, Bronx native Hest delivers a winning collection of acoustic guitar-based pop-rock, full of buoyant melodies and thoughtful lyrics that far surpass most of his contemporaries. Since parting with Columbia Records several years ago, Hest has worked hard to establish himself as an independent artist. He played more than 150 shows last year. Not only is Hest a superb songwriter he is also a technician of sound, which will match perfectly with the acoustically pleasing Stoltz Listening Room. His latest album, “The Break In” is receiving great reviews on the national level. Hest is in possession of one of the most rich and supple voices to be found today. Those rich vocals and some of the prettiest and most delicate guitar work a music fan could hope to hear appear at in The Stoltz Listening Room this summer.
