Stoltz Listening Room Show
Willy Porter “Up Close & Personal”
Friday, April 1, 2011 at 8 pm
$35
Willy Porter normally plays the main theater when visiting us, although this time around his fans have requested a very special and intimate session in the Stoltz. Willy has obliged, and the event has been appropriately dubbed "Up Close & Personal". This is a unique opportunity to catch the artist's phenomenal guitar work and slick comedic timing, who has literally been praised by the likes of Al Kooper, Tori Amos, and every critic who crosses his path. "An acoustic picker with the Olympian speed of Leo Kottke bolstered by rootsy vocals and twisting, offbeat lyrics that evoke John Hiatt..." - Boston Globe www.willyporter.com |

Isolier, for the love of the lonely Countess Adèle, sung by
soprano Diana Damrau. Bartlett Sher, director of the Met's hit productions

Stoltz Listening Room Show
Jeffrey Gaines
Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 8pm
$25
He burst onto the scene in 1992 with the release of his debut album, Jeffrey Gaines. Rolling Stone called him ".the voice of a new generation". The Chicago Tribune claimed, "Gaines is extraordinary and timeless". Then, Gaines' deceptively simple, straightforward music saw him shoot to national fame with his brilliant cover of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". For lovers of Seal, Jeff Buckley, and Jack Johnson style vocals, Gaines performs in the SLR for what promises to be a special Saturday night. |

Talbot Humane Presents Meg Olmert's “Made For Each Other”
Friday, April 29 at
7:30 pm
$45
Meg Daley Olmert has created and produced documentary television series for National Geographic, The Discovery Channel and PBS. Most recently, she wrote the highly-acclaimed National Geographic film, “And Man Created Dog.”
While developing a series on the evolution of the human-animal bond, she was asked to join a research team studying the neurobiology of social bonding. Her partnership in this endeavor inspired Made For Each Other, The Biology of the Human-Animal Bond. This is the first book to explain the brain chemistry that flows through—and between—all mammals forging powerful social bonds between the species. It traces the evolution of this shared neurobiological heritage as it calmed wild animals and turned our hunter-gather ancestors into full-time animal caregivers. And it also shows how the ability of humans and animals to activate this brain system in each other continues to quiet our hearts and minds, filling us with a very real, very essential sense of wellbeing. The Huffington Post named Made For Each Other one of the top 7 small press books of the decade.
Meg is also the Director of Research for Paws for Purple Hearts, a canine-therapy program treating soldiers with PTSD.
