Taj Mahal
6/6 – 8 p.m.
There’s not much we can say about
Taj that hasn’t already been said. What we probably appreciate
the most about this blues giant and his colossal body of work is
how much territory he covers – be it Caribbean, African, or
straight American-style blues – it’s all there and totally
original. We’re expecting yet another sold-out performance,
so contact our box office soon!

Artie Shaw Orchestra
6/9 – 8 p.m.
Celebrating the 100th anniversary
of Artie’s birth, the ASO will seduce you with their potent
dose of swing and nostalgia. Shaw’s brilliance on the clarinet
was undeniable, as was his group’s power within the music industry
during their height in the 1930’s and 40’s. The long
series of musical groups Shaw formed during his time included mega-talents
Billie Holiday, Mel Torme, Buddy Rich, Tal Farlow, and trombonist-arranger
Ray Conniff. A fascinating man whose music lives on via the orchestra
bearing his name.

Loudon Wainwright III
6/10 – 8 p.m.
Legendary folk artist,
satirist, actor, 2009 Grammy winner (Best traditional folk album),
and father to musicians Martha and Rufus. We’re particularly
excited for this one, and if you know the man’s music, you
most likely are as well. Maybe we’ll all get lucky and hear
him perform one of his more famous songs, the breastfeeding ode (to
his son) "Rufus is a Tit Man."
